If your work requires regularly extracting information from images and screenshots, then you should consider using an OCR tool. The time and effort saved by a dedicated tool is not only worth the money, but it will also reduce the number of errors you may make in your documentation.

EasyOT is a lightweight application designed to help you grab and extract information from all kinds of images, including screenshots you take directly.

Provides a quick way to get information from an image

After a quick and smooth installation, you’re greeted with a simple interface that pops up from your system tray. As a side note, the default language on first startup is Chinese, so you can change it to English and save the configuration.

In terms of functionality, you can activate text recognition with the F4 key and select the desired area with the mouse. You’ll be able to view it directly in the app’s UI, where you can work on it further. You have two ways of managing text, copying the text content or translating the text, each option has its own dedicated field.

It’s important to note that you may need to have an account and generate a working API for services that the tool relies on for text recognition and translation. To be more precise, the app supports Tencent Cloud, Baidu Cloud, and spatial OCR recognition, and you need to include various data, such as SecretID or ApiKey, to use these services.

Enable text translation in desired language

If you just want to grab text for translation, you can do it via the F2 key. Although F4 and F2 are the default settings, keep in mind that you can change them to your liking. For translation, you can also use Google Translate, which is free and supports dozens of languages.

Finally, one of the standout features of EasyOT is its ability to capture text on multiple screens while automatically adjusting for different DPI settings. However, it’s important to remember that the app will only capture the screen where the mouse cursor is located.
