Equinox offers a native desktop application with more features. It’s also very easy to use. Simply delete the image after selecting the wallpaper type you want, set a time for the image to appear, or use the included calculator to calculate the position of the sun.

It couldn’t be easier if you know the exact time when an image should be set as wallpaper. Just load the file, choose a time of day that suits you, and export the wallpaper.

If you want to take it a step further, you can also consider the position of the sun. You just need to know when and where the photo was taken. The app will then calculate the sun’s position in the sky, ensuring you get the perfect wallpaper at the right time.

Once done, you can save the wallpaper as a .heic file or set it directly as a background. However, before doing this, make sure you have activated live wallpapers in macOS. Otherwise, the image will not change automatically.

Equinox is a great tool for users who want to create their own dynamic backgrounds, and Apple should really implement it into the operating system. It’s easy to use, powerful and completely free.
