Gaplin is a minimalist SVG viewer that also integrates file conversion. The utility can switch the file extension to SVG or SVGZ, or can export the alpha channel as a PNG, TIFF or PDF file.

SVG image viewer with basic functionality

In the main Gapplin window, you can visualize the contents of an SVG or SVGZ file, zoom in or out on the image, and scroll vertically or horizontally using the horizontal bar. The app also provides details on file size, zoom level, and current image width and height.

Additionally, you can choose to edit SVG files, which means they will automatically open in your default text editor. Note that through the Gapplin preferences you can change the default external editor.

Gapplin can automatically redraw the image after the file is updated, or you can trigger the feature manually by pressing the Command + R hotkey.

Customize the SVG viewing environment and export content to other image formats

By default, Gapplin applications come with a fully opaque white background mode, but also have a dark background mode that lets you see what’s underneath the application window.

However, through the Gapplin preferences, you can quickly change the default background color, include dark mode, and adjust the opacity level in both cases. The same area lets you choose to open apps in dark mode only when working with white images, never or in all cases.

SVG images can also be easily exported to the more popular PDF, TIFF or PNG image file formats for easy sharing.

All in all, Gapplin offers you the possibility to visualize SVG or SVGZ files and edit them with a text editor. The app automatically repaints the image when you save the file.

Additionally, you can use Gapplin to export SVG images to more popular image formats such as PNG, TIFF or PDF.
