Horcrux is a simple-to-use and streamlined utility for macOS that automatically backs up email from any IMAP-enabled email service (i.e. iCloud, Gmail, Google Apps, Microsoft Exchange, and most other email accounts from IMAP-enabled servers) mail message.

Additionally, the Horcrux app lets you restore backed up mail to any other email account, while also preserving its folder hierarchy and labels.

In order for Horcrux to properly incrementally backup your emails in the background to multiple locations (local and remote) without your intervention, you just need to add mail accounts and set the backup frequency.

The Horcrux application also supports migrating backed up emails between IMAP servers and quickly restoring them by automatically skipping emails that already exist on the destination server.

It’s worth mentioning that Horcrux will back up your emails in an open EML format, compatible with Apple’s Mail app, but it can also export them to MBOX if you prefer.
