If your IP changes frequently, or you just need to have it on hand for any reason, it usually takes a few steps to find it.

IP in menubar is a simple application that does its job very simply: it displays your current IP in the menu bar, making it clear at a glance. Although the app only runs in the menu bar and lacks a classic interface, you can configure a lot.

View your IP in the menu bar

The basic functionality of the app is simple: when running, you will always see your current IP and can click on it to get more information and configuration options. As with any menu bar item, you can move it freely.

The menu always shows your local IP, even if an external IP is shown in the menu bar. You can also see when it was updated, copy it to your clipboard, and switch to your router IP (if you’re using a router).

Many visual customizations and additional information

In addition to the IP, other information can be listed in the menu bar. This includes the current user’s name, country, and computer name. Additionally, icons can be switched, different colors can be used, and IPs can use smaller fonts.

You can also choose to display multiple IPs and only display a limited number of fields in the address, which helps minimize clutter in the menu bar.

Nothing crazy, just getting the job done

Given its simple functionality, there isn’t much to say about the IP in the menu bar. It works just as you’d expect and has more configuration options than you might expect. It’s also completely free, which comes in handy when you need to know your current IP at all times.
