Gmail’s Kiwi is a useful application designed to help you manage your email accounts by eliminating the need to use a web browser to access the service. It offers good macOS integration and lets you track your emails and send messages with just a few mouse clicks.
Desktop Gmail client, maintains the layout of the web service and adds some small improvements
Assuming you’ve used Gmail before, the app’s interface should be very familiar. Essentially, it’s almost the same as the webmail service, with some additional elements added to the title bar.
These display your currently managed accounts and allow you to switch between them easily.
Kiwi for Gmail provides additional indicators in your menu bar and Dock. These let you know how many unread messages you have across all your accounts.
Stay up to date and send messages with just a few clicks
Clicking the status bar icon will open a drop-down menu that displays information for each account individually and allows you to compose a new message right away.
Additionally, if you wish to avoid interruptions, you can enable Do Not Disturb mode to temporarily disable all notifications.
You can access Google Drive, Calendar, Hangouts and other services directly from the app interface. However, they open in separate windows, which can end up cluttering your desktop if multiple windows are active at the same time.
Useful app that lets you manage other Google services
It would help if these services could be launched in tabs, so that you can limit them to a single window and keep your workspace organized.
All in all, Kiwi for Gmail is a decent replacement for the standard Google webmail service. It’s easy to use, allows you to manage multiple accounts and offers OS X integration.
