There are plenty of clipboard managers to choose from that seem adequate for any possible use case. Still, more options never hurt, especially when they’re free and open source.

motherboard is one of the simplest such apps you’ll come across, but it still packs enough features to act as a complete clipboard manager. It is also open source and available for free.

To open the Clipboard Manager window, you can click the application’s menu bar icon or use ⇧⌘V Global hotkeys. This shortcut is not customizable, but that may change in a future release.

Once open, you can click on an item to preview it, use the search function to find specific content, or simply clear all clipboard contents.urgent ⌘ and one of them 1-9 keys will quickly copy the corresponding item to the clipboard. However, since the list is not numbered, it can be difficult to tell which is which.

As you’d expect from any modern clipboard manager, it can save text and images saved to the clipboard. If you click on any item in the list, you can preview both, and the app also provides information about its format and origin.

As for links, Macboard attempts to obtain metadata and display a preview of the page’s content, although this doesn’t always work as expected.

There are no customizable settings or other features to mention. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as minimalistic designs are generally preferable, but I felt like a few additions were needed. For example, a way to sort and categorize clipboard items would be helpful, as would the ability to use apps and custom hotkeys entirely from the keyboard.
