Few software companies are trusted with handling your private data, but Mozilla is generally seen as one of the good ones, and they have a decent track record. It’s understandable then that the company’s VPN app has been eagerly anticipated, especially now that VPN services are more popular than ever.

Mozilla VPN seems to tick all the right boxes: it’s open-source, has a large number of available servers, uses Wireguard, supports up to five devices, and does not log your traffic. It has also been audited by a third-party security firm, gives it that much more credibility.

As with any VPN, it will encrypt your traffic and route it through a selected server to hide your location. It works system-wide, and while app exclusion is possible on other platforms, the macOS client does not currently allow you to prevent certain apps from going through the VPN.

An interesting feature should work great with Mozilla’s Firefox browser: if the Multi-Account Containers extension is enabled, you are able to use different VPN servers for each browser tab.

Mozilla VPN also comes with built-in ad and tracker blocking capabilities, a multi-hop feature for routing your traffic through multiple location, and the option to use a custom DNS.
