grunt is a voice chat solution that provides support for group and sports features developed specifically for gamers. Note that Mumble is only a client of the system, you need to access the server which is handled by the Murmur component.

Mumble immediately launches an audio wizard where you can select input and output devices, or adjust hardware output delay or microphone volume.

You can help Mumble understand when you’re talking or silent, set quality settings based on your bandwidth, choose to receive notifications, or adjust location audio settings.

At the same time, the Certificate Wizard helps you generate the trusted certificates needed to connect to the server. The same area allows you to import a certificate or export the current certificate.

Once all of this is done, just navigate to the Server window and establish a connection. If you want to connect to a server that is not included in the list, simply provide the label, address, port, and username manually.

In the main Mumble window, you can view the list of channels and users currently connected to the server: you can join channels, send messages to users, mute certain contacts, and more.

Note that your microphone is active by default, but you can choose to mute it, just like you can choose to deafen the app. For your convenience, Mumble also provides audible alerts so that you know when you are connected or disconnected from the server, etc.

It’s worth mentioning that Mumble has two special features that prove to be very useful if you use the app to communicate with other players while playing games: in-game overlays and positional audio. This way you know who is speaking and you can hear the player’s voice based on their position.

Your interactions can be recorded, and Mumble can export the audio using popular file formats such as WAV, FLAC, OGG or AU.
