There’s a lot of content on YouTube, and we naturally subscribe to the providers of the content we find most engaging. There’s no shortage of such channels, and it’s easy to get lost in keeping track of them all: getting notified when someone posts a video is one viable solution to this problem, but there are better ways.

The Chrome Web Store has a large collection of extensions that improve the user experience on the popular video-sharing site, and PocketTube for Chrome Numbers are among the more popular, and for good reason: categorize your feeds by topic, integrate them into the homepage and sidebar, and more.

An easy way to sort everything

As with most add-ons, installation doesn’t take long or involve any complications.After adding the extension to your browser, you will see a new subscribe group section in the YouTube sidebar. Clicking it will allow you to create new groups, as well as view channels you are currently subscribed to.

Needless to say, creating a group only takes a few seconds: selecting your favorite icons to assign to a group may take more time, though.Once this is done, you can navigate to channel tab and start categorizing everything. The process is intuitive and shouldn’t cause problems for anyone.

Besides placing groups nicely in the sidebar, the extension allows for some additional customization. Clicking on its icon will reveal some of the settings available: for example, you can hide grouped channels in the sidebar and move them directly to the main page, where suggested clips are located.

The extension also supports Label Features: Based on your grouped channels and generated tags, you can view the latest videos from your favorite creators on a topic.

Also, you can have the subscription group notify you of any new videos directly from the sidebar via an icon: it’s non-intrusive, but if it bothers you, it can be hidden in the settings.
