While macOS does a great job of handling inactive apps and limiting their resource usage, nothing frees up resources like closing them completely. This is especially important if you have a limited amount of RAM.

Easily exit an application from the menu bar

The application is primarily used by clicking on the menu bar icon. You’ll see a list of all active foreground applications, along with their current CPU usage. You can select one or more apps, or select them all at once and quit them with one click.

You can also enable the display of background applications if you want to see everything running on your system. In this case, the search tool should come in handy as it can help you find a specific service in the now crowded list of apps.

Force quits and automation

Although never preferred, sometimes it is necessary to force quit an application. You can set this as the default behavior, or hold down the Option key to toggle between Exit and Force Quit in the menu bar. You can also set shortcuts.

To maximize the efficiency of your workflow, you can configure QuitAll to automatically close applications that have been inactive for a certain period of time. You’ll still be prompted to save your work if necessary, so there’s no need to worry about data loss.

Useful for resource management on older devices

If you have a recent Mac with plenty of RAM, QuitAll won’t be as useful as you can let the operating system handle inactive applications, which will also make it more convenient when switching to them again.

However, for those with older devices with limited memory, this app may improve performance by closing apps you may no longer need.
