What this app actually does is continuously monitor event logs to detect continuous connection attempts and immediately block the source IP address. This keeps remote desktops safe from brute force attacks and makes your server harder to hack.

It works as a Windows service, which means that the protection system remains active even when no client is logged on. The RdpGuard security mechanism together with Windows Firewall ensures intrusion prevention.

Block IP addresses that repeatedly fail to connect

You can easily configure the maximum number of failed login attempts that will trigger IP blocking, and set how long an address will remain in the blacklist (24 hours by default). An exception list can be defined to include addresses considered safe regardless of the number of failed connection attempts.

You can choose between two blocking methods, one based on Windows Firewall and the other based on specific IP security policies. All blocked IPs are neatly displayed in the main window, along with the date they will be removed from the ban list.
