Media files, especially those created with older devices or downloaded from the web, are not necessarily compatible with whatever device you want to play them on. Conversion is sometimes necessary, but it can be a complicated process for users unfamiliar with conversion.

Smart converter Intended as an extremely simple alternative to more complex media converters. It features a drag-and-drop, one-click operation mode, has presets for popular devices, and is able to detect which streams need conversion.

The application supports the most popular video and audio formats. After dragging and dropping your files into the main window, you need to select the preset you want to use for conversion. Each one is designed for a specific device, so just select the device you want to play your files on.

As far as encoding settings are concerned, there are no customization options available. Some may see this as a plus, but it means the app isn’t for everyone.

After loading a file and selecting a preset, Smart Converter checks whether its video and audio streams are compatible with the selected device. If it is both, no conversion is required and they will simply be sent to Apple TV or Apple Music.

If conversion is required, only the streams that need to be processed are modified. This means the operation will take more or less time, depending on the preset selected.

In addition to the lack of encoder customization, you can’t prevent apps from automatically sending files to Apple TV or Music and then opening said app. Again, this may be exactly the desired behavior for some users, but inconvenient for others.

In short, if you just need a quick and easy tool to make your media files compatible with certain devices, Smart Converter has you covered. However, this isn’t enough if you need any kind of customization options.
