Despite many attempts, there is currently no service that can match YouTube’s popularity and vast library of content. There’s a lot of great stuff on the platform, but there’s also a lot of junk and distraction, not to mention Google’s rampant data collection.

Tellik is another way to keep track of your favorite channels and playlists without requiring a YouTube account and making it easier to follow what interests you while avoiding others. It also lets you organize channels, search for videos and open them with one click.

Native, open source YouTube tracker

YouTube doesn’t offer many tools to manage your subscriptions, and you can’t subscribe to anything without an account. Telik doesn’t need one to work, it uses tags to help you categorize channels and playlists, and a quick search function to quickly locate a channel or video.

To add a new channel or playlist, all you need to do is provide its URL. Multiple links can be added at one time. You can even export a list of all channels from your YouTube account. Check out the in-app export guide to see how it’s done.

Manage your subscriptions and open videos in your default browser

After importing everything you need to track, you can add tags to create separate feeds for each type of content. These are easy to set up initially, but it would be nice if they could be managed via checkboxes instead of re-entering them later when you want to add or remove tags.

To open a video, you just need to click on it. The link will be sent to your default browser, usually in full screen mode or full screen mode without cookies. The latter will prevent data collection when the video is opened.

Useful for privacy-conscious users and avoiding distractions

Telik is a great way to take advantage of YouTube while minimizing its shortcomings. It bypasses the platform’s data collection and recommendations, so even if you don’t have a YouTube account, you can only follow channels that interest you.
