Tessa OCR is a minimalist macOS application designed to help you extract text from any PDF file without too many manual corrections.

Save time by applying OCR algorithms to your PDF documents

To start using the Tessa OCR application, you must use the Finder menu to select the PDF document you want to work with. In the main Tessa OCR window you will be able to preview the page and apply different processing rules.

Tessa OCR offers you the possibility to whiten certain areas or only select specific areas for treatment. This is useful if you don’t need to extract the entire text. Furthermore, both movements can be reversed quickly.

Get accurate results with different language packs

By default, Tessa OCR comes with an English language pack, but with in-app purchases you can expand the number of supported languages.

Currently, you can download the following packages: Danish, German, Finnish, French, Italian, Dutch, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Swedish.

All other languages ​​will be added to the language drop-down menu, all you have to do is select the appropriate entry.

However, during our testing, we noticed that the results were not very accurate when the font style was slightly decorative. At the same time, the utility crashes on multiple instances when processing pages or exporting output to a text file.
