The ball pit is free indie horror game for Windows developed by Gloopo. In this 10-minute game, you are invited to explore an abandoned fast food restaurant called McDong’s. Despite the idyllic rural setting, something is not quite right inside. Whatever strange things happen, and whatever you do, don’t jump into ball pit – you have been warned.

This free-to-play 3D first-person role-playing game is made even more effective thanks to contrast between pleasant surroundingsand what awaits you inside. To scare you with even more horror games that play on your childhood traumas, consider trying Five Nights at Shrek’s Hotel or Sponge Massacre.

This works especially well thanks to gave up fast foodwhich enhances the sense of isolation. The game is short, taking about ten minutes to complete, but you’ll be tempted to play it again to find secrets and try to interact with every object in the spooky diner.

Limited actions for more fear

Your range of motion is limited and you not have a weapon fight anything but a torch. You automatically feel vulnerable. The textures are simplified, but it helps you feel more uncomfortable. Anyone in the shadows could be a monster ready to pounce on you.

Humor to lift your spirits

Despite some really strong moments of horror, the game is sometimes uplifting with internet humor. Some of the references may seem confusing if you’re not familiar with meme culture, but once you understand them, it’s definitely a treat. It will also help you take a breather from your nervous exploration, and you will end up letting your guard down for the next fear.

Short, funny horror

Ball Pit successfully turns the simple into an exploration of the dark underside of that very environment. This is a great idea, and the developer has taken it to perfection in The Ball. Pit. They managed to create an extremely poignant atmosphere, spiced with laughter, to temporarily lighten the mood. Beware, however; comedy is sandwiched between layers of horror stories, so don’t relax!

The Ball Pit is a short horror adventure that you can play through in about ten minutes, but it’s eminently replayable, so it’s worth a try.
