Timer by Ten is a simple Mac OS X application designed as a useful countdown timer and stopwatch. The app therefore allows you to count down until the event and calculate your lap time just as easily.

Clean user interface

The utility is very simple to use, as its compact 4-button user interface displays minutes and seconds (in numeric format), a Start button, and buttons for setting minutes and seconds in a timer.

To switch to stopwatch mode, you can simply use the View menu or the CMD + 2 shortcut. Also, the same goes for switching to the timer, but in this case use the CMD + 1 shortcut.

Stopwatch mode and Dock icon tracker

In stopwatch mode you can click a button to record laps and view them in a separate window. Additionally, the utility can even count tenths of seconds, an option you can toggle in the preferences.

Additionally, Timer by Ten can display remaining/used time on the Dock and even display expiration time in red (by default). You can choose different colors for the foreground color, background color, and expiration color through the Preferences window.

Play notification sound

Additionally, when the timer ends, Timer by Ten can play an alarm sound (which you can choose from the settings) or a button sound that can also be changed. Some additional options include adjusting volume, entering full-screen mode, and setting apps to always stay on top.

In short, Timer by Ten is a neat app that lives up to its name. In addition to serving as a reliable countdown timer for daily needs, the app is also a basic stopwatch with various customization preferences.
