The Tropical Outdoor Triggers of Asthma and Allergies (TOTAAL) application is a free tool designed to help individuals affected by allergies. This app is especially beneficial for those who are vulnerable to fungal spores, known to trigger allergies such as allergic conjunctivitis, allergic rhinitis, atopic dermatitis/eczema, hives and asthma.

The application facilitates the connection between local fungal numbers and personal allergy and asthma reactions. Users can access real-time pollen and fungal spore levels in San Juan, PR through the TOTAAL app. This platform was developed by Dr. Benjamin Bolaños, Director and Founder of the San Juan AAAAI Station at the Medical Sciences Campus of the University of Puerto Rico, and is supported by his extensive expertise as Associate Professor at the Department of Microbiology at the Medical Sciences Campus.

Dr. Bolaños has been actively engaged in clinical research investigating the effects of fungal spores as allergens, along with purification of tropical fungal allergens.
