Tower is a free RPG for Window from the developer of The Falling Dream. This game is done in retro style like Mimi and the Animals and Job Hunter 202X. The action takes place from a top-down perspective with old-school graphics very similar to SNES-era games like The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past or JRPGs like Chrono Trigger.

In this case, the main character is a princess looking for control your destiny and a magical talking cat. In this short adventure, you will visit different places including dungeons, ice dungeons and more, along with your feline companion who is always ready to help you.

General graphics and gameplay

Graphics and gameplay Peculiarities in Tower ok for the genre. However, at least in this respect, they lack any truly distinctive qualities to make a name memorable. You have many different settings, but they look bland and featureless. The cat is really the only commemorative asset.

As for the gameplay, it time-tested formula to find clues and solve puzzles. However, because the game is short, it lacks the overarching feeling that you are doing something to achieve an important goal. This goal exists, but it is poorly developed.

Some dubious decisions

Without revealing too much, the developer seems to be using the title as a means to convey a political messagewhich not only does not help, but in some way interferes with the story.

Some puzzles are difficult to solve due to lack of information, and you risk getting stuck in places where there is no other choice but to reload.

A short Zelda clone for retro lovers

Tower is a fun little game to pass the time if you’re sick of playing SNES Zelda for the millionth time. The story is interesting, if you ignore the obvious agenda of the developer. Adding a companion cat is a great idea as your interactions contribute a lot to the action.

Everything else is decent enough, but nothing more. The graphics are nice, but you’ll feel like you’ve seen these assets somewhere else. Perhaps it’s because there aren’t any unusual things that could be a staple of the game. However, it’s still a fun game if you manage to get past certain puzzles.
