Universal Media Server Is a free open source DLNA compatible UPnP media server.

Initially, this tool supported PlayStation 3, but has now been expanded to support a range of other media renderers, including Xbox 360 and various Samsung and Sony TVs.

Universal media servers stream or transcode many different media formats from many platforms with minimal configuration. MPlayer and FFmpeg packages support it.

Its help menu provides step-by-step instructions on how to install and use universal media server utilities on your Mac.

The Universal Media Server is cross-platform and is suitable for macOS, Windows and Linux. Binary files for Windows and Linux platforms are available on the project homepage.

In addition, in order to use Universal Media Server on OS X 10.8 or later, you must temporarily bypass or completely disable Gatekeeper.
