Universalis is a Mac application designed for Catholics who need an easier way to learn about the saints celebrated on specific days, as well as access a variety of religious texts for prayer, meditation or just general reading, all through a simple desktop interface.

The application has a fairly minimalist user interface, consisting mainly of a main panel displaying text and images. On launch, you’ll see information about the day’s festivities, and you can browse the calendar to any date you want. Multiple calendars are also available.

You can access all other sections if you click on the drop-down menu in the upper right corner. These include the day’s Gospel, Psalms, prayers and hourly readings, the Sacraments of the Mass (New English Translation), Mass readings, Angelus, Rosary and more.

All content is available offline, no internet connection is required. Fonts and text size can be customized, VoiceOver can be used to list text aloud, and you can even create e-books that fit a variety of devices for personal use. The Mac App Store version of the application does not offer e-book creation functionality.
