Transmit FTP is a modern FTP application that supports a range of transfer types and services. Not only does it support FTP and SFTP, but it also allows you to transfer files to and from services like Amazon S3, or set up your own WebDAV storage.

Transmit gives Mac OS X users a very convenient file transfer that feels right at home in OS X. Its interface has echoes of regular FTP software, but it’s been updated to look exactly like OS X Finder. Users view their local files on the left and remote files on the right, with eye-catching icons highlighting each service in the list.

Panic, the developers of Transmit, claim that their code has been changed to make it faster. This speedup extends to the app and its file transfers.

Other benefits include:

• Mount the remote storage as if it were a local drive.
• Click the “Synchronize” button to create an exact copy of the local folder on the remote server.
• Dual or single pane view with the ability to view two local browsers at the same time.
• File upload progress and overall progress are displayed in one compact progress bar.
