“Teams now has over 115 million daily active users. We’re seeing increased use and intensity as people communicate, collaborate and co-author content in work, life, and learning. Microsoft 365 users generated over 30 billion minutes of collaboration in a single day this quarter, ”said Nadella.
This marks an increase of almost 50% over 75 million daily active users for six months. In March, Microsoft Teams was downloaded by 44 million users, and in just seven months the platform has more than doubled its user base.
Microsoft Teams added new features during the pandemic. Recently, he introduced an Together mode to reduce the fatigue that participants experience during a video call. Together mode uses AI segmentation technology to place participants in a shared background, such as an auditorium. The company says it cuts down on background distractions and is especially useful for brainstorming and panel discussions as multiple people will be speaking.
