Sorry, but you can’t play PT on PS5 after all

The PS5 owners will not be able to play the Silent Hills PT teaser on their new consoles.

As reported by Polygon, the cult horror hit can no longer be transferred between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, it is also not playable thanks to the backward compatibility. Initially, it was possible to move PT wing PS5 and replicate it, but this feature seems to have been removed at some point.

This gave fans hope that the Konami Horror Teaser could still be alive after learning that the game, unsurprisingly, was not available for download from PlayStation Store. In fact, PT was removed from Sony’s online store in 2015.

PT was announced at Gamescom 2014 by Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima, and has been downloaded over a million times during its first few weeks in the wild. It was actually a playable trailer – Mr. Kojima is very smart, don’t you know? – for a new entry in the Silent Hill franchise, dubbed Silent Hills.

The title was created to launch Norman Reedus, who will later collaborate with Kojima on Death Stranding in 2019, and was co-created by director Guillermo del Toro.

However, the project fell apart after Kojima had a fairly public fight with Konami. Silent Hills was officially canceled in April 2015, and the Japanese publication removed the game from PlayStation Network. Del Toro described it as a “scorched earth” approach from Konami.

At that time, there were reports that PT was being removed from PlayStation 4 consoles, but they turned out to be wrong. Since then, the game has become in great demand, as PS4s with the demo installed have sold for quite high prices on platforms such as eBay.

There are rumors that a soft reboot of the Silent Hill series and a cover of Silent Hills are in the works, but nothing has been officially confirmed yet.
