Netflix’s White Tiger tells a fucking capitalist fable – Heaven32

New Netflix film “The White Tiger” tells the story of Balram, who was born into a poor family in the Indian village of Laxmangarh and escapes using his wits and determination, eventually becoming a successful businessman in Bangalore. .

Viewers have known this from the start, as Balram (played by Adarsh Gourav) tells his life story in an email, apparently written to explain his success to the visiting Chinese head of state. This storytelling is one of the best things about the film, as it provides a lot of dark comedy while still allowing Balram to justify his choices in what he admits to be an increasingly haunting storyline.

As we explained in the last episode of the original content podcast, “The White Tiger” convincingly illustrates the cruelty required to escape poverty, while also painting a damning portrait of Balram’s employers, Ashok (Rajkummar Rao) and America-educated Pinky (Priyanka Chopra Jonas), whose blatant warmth and compassion don’t go far.

If “White Tiger” is not enough, it is compared to “Parasite”, a film which deals with similar themes in an even more ambitious and virtuous way. But a movie may not reach the heights of “Parasite” while still being good enough.

In addition to our review, we also discussed The Mother Box, a $ 130 food kit tied to the March release of Zack Snyder’s cut of “Justice League” on HBO Max.
