Israeli parliament approves new government


The Knesset (unicameral parliament) on Sunday approved the composition of the 35th coalition government of Israel, formed by the March 2 elections as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. 73 of 120 deputies expressed confidence in the new cabinet, after which Netanyahu and his coalition partner Beni Ganz swore an oath to the Prime Minister. In accordance with the coalition agreement of the Likud and Kahol-Lavan parties, Netanyahu will be Prime Minister until mid-November 2021, after which the post will be transferred to Ganz.

The representative of the Likud party, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Yariv Levin, was elected president of the Knesset (parliament) of the 23rd convocation. For Levin's appointment as president, 71 of the 120 MPs voted. In this publication, he replaced the head of the Kahol-Lavan bloc, Beni Ganz, who will become Minister of Defense, as well as the Prime Minister as part of the rotation in the 35th government of the Jewish state.

The Knesset meeting will be held in accordance with the instructions of the Ministry of Health, with the aim of preventing the spread of the coronavirus. The deputies in the hall are separated by empty chairs and their faces are covered with medical masks.
