What is Leilat al-Gadr?

Night of Al-Gadr (Arabic: لَيْلَةُ الْقَدْر), Leylat al-Gadr, Night of Predestination, Night of Decision, Night of Power) – the most revered night of the fasting month of Ramadan (Ramadan), associated with the sending of the Holy Quran to Prophet Muhammad (C) in the cave form of Mount Hira Jabal al-Nur.

The exact date of the sending of the Koran is unknown, but for centuries Muslims have been celebrating the holy Leylat al-Gadr in the last 10 days of Ramadan at night on odd days of the month. In Azerbaijani – Qədr gecəsi or Əhya. It is believed that it is on this night that the Almighty invents the destiny of man for the coming year. Therefore, it is called the time of Destiny of Destiny or the Night of Power.

As a general rule, some Muslims celebrate this night from 18 to 19, from 20 to 21 and from 2 to 23 of the month of Ramadan. Others believe that Holy Night falls on the night of the 26-27 of the month of Ramadan.

How to spend a holy night

The prophet Muhammad (C) said: "Whoever passes the night of predestination with faith and sincerity, the former sins will be forgiven."

There is a special sacred nightly ritual that can be found in a mosque or in religious literature. On the night of predestination, Allah decides on the fate of each person, taking into account their piety and the requests expressed in the prayers. Therefore, it is customary for Leilat al-Gadr to be celebrated in the mosque, read the Koran and offer prayers and requests to Allah. However, today during the days of the coronavirus pandemic, this evening should be celebrated at home.

"It is recommended to stay awake at Holy Night. Considering that on the night of Leylat al-Gadr you will not sleep until dawn, it is advisable to rest before nightfall. When night falls, take a full ablution and intend to bless on the Highest Holy Night, then commit 2 salvation prayers, perform other actions: perform prayer, recite prayers from the Koran, ask the Almighty for forgiveness of sins, "the vice president of the Caucasus Muslim Department (CMD) told Trend Life ), dean of the Islamic University of Baku. Ktorov philosophy Haji Fuad Nurullaev (Nurullah).

According to the theologian, it is necessary to know and conduct the Night of Predestination with dignity and with benefit for secular and eternal life, as a unique opportunity to obtain the mercy and forgiveness of Allah. Each fast this month is a guest of the Creator Himself, who covers a tablecloth of spiritual and material goods, and gives blessings on His invisible treasures. A fasting person is so valuable to Allah that every breath in the month of Ramadan is counted as a service, especially on the night of al-Gadr.

The value of the night al-Gadr

The night of al-Qadr is a gift from Allah given only to Muslims. From Islamic sources it is clear that in the pre-Islamic religions there was no such Qadr night.

In one of the hadiths, the prophet Muhammad (C) says: "Without a doubt, Allah gave the Night of Qadr to my (Muslim) community, because the previous communities were deprived of this wealth".

According to the hadith: "When the Night of Power comes, Jabrail descends to earth with a large number of angels and grants grace to all who are standing or sitting and commemorate Allah Almighty and Glorious."

According to the hadiths that night: "… the angels descend to Earth on the night of al-Qadr and are scattered throughout the world; they attend meetings of the faithful; they greet them (Salaam) and say" Amen! "To the prayers offered by the faithful, and this continues until dawn."

Islamic theologians believe that it was on the night of "Leilat al-Gadr" that the archangel Jabrail transferred the heavenly scripture of the Koran from under the throne of the Lord to the heaven closest to earth, and from there its content was gradually transferred into the 23 years course to the prophet Muhammad (C). Furthermore, on this night, Islam teaches, the Most High gives angels their instructions and decisions related to the world in general and to individuals in particular. These decisions are sent for a whole year and nobody can change them.

The hadith says: "Your Lord has gifts that he gives you in the days of your life: try to find them!"
