Travelers arriving from France to the UK will not be subject to a 14-day quarantine measure imposed to contain the spread of Coronavirus, Downing Street and the Elysee, said Sunday in their speech.

“Quarantine measures will not be applied to travelers from France at this stage; all measures on both sides would be taken in a concerted and reciprocal manner ", reads the Elysée declaration

, which was released after a phone call between the two heads of state.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson and French President Emmanuel Macron also highlighted the risk of new transmissions from abroad, despite the drop in infection levels in the country.

"To prevent re-infection of the alien, I inform that the time will soon be, with considerably lower transmission, to impose quarantine on people entering this country by air," said Johnson in his televised speech on Sunday.

The quarantine measure will also apply to travelers from Ireland.

Similarly, travelers to France from European Schengen countries and Britain will not be affected by a mandatory 14-day quarantine, the French consulate in the UK wrote on Twitter the same day.
