Environment

For those new to the horror puzzle genre, this experience can be a little overwhelming. Just More Doors focuses on liminal spaces; “liminal space” basically means the space between spaces.

In this case, you explore numerous doorways and rooms. While a formal room is the opposite of a liminal space, Just More Doors is more than a simple room game. The rooms aren’t destinations or utilitarian, they’re just border spaces separated by doors.

Graphic arts

Like many independent games, Just More Doors has an incredible attention to detail. Tiles reflect light, softer furniture appears to absorb light, and most surfaces feel tactile and textured.

The game seems to be using a fairly intense graphical setting that is geared towards realism. However, the game should run smoothly on Windows devices with minimal interruptions.

Psychology of Liminal Space

Just More Doors turns a formal room into a liminal space, removing the satisfaction of arriving in a space and instead replacing it with the uncomfortable feeling of being stuck between one place and another.

Just More Doors makes comments hinting that you are stuck in a dream. Liminal spaces, like in Just More Doors, make you feel uncomfortable because you feel like you’re in limbo.

Just More Doors is incredible in its design, ideas and execution. While most games give you some control over your environment, Just More Doors takes that away from you during a short tutorial before you get started.

You are instantly reminded that you have no choice but to move in the direction the game wants you to go. Just More Doors is designed to make the player feel stuck, in control, and somewhat observable. Great graphics and atmosphere create a complete immersion.
