Last Alliance: Total War Mod is free game mod behind Total War: Shogun 2. Instead of being based in feudal Japan, it is part of Tolkien’s realm The Lord of the Rings. It features campaigns in which elves, dwarves and dúnedain fight the evil Sauron in a war. The timeline is the end of the Second Age.

Wars in Middle-earth

It’s clear from the outset that the developer of Last Alliance: Total War Mod is a major lord of the rings fan. Total War: Shogun 2 may have been the base, but there are plenty of changes to showcase new maps that reflect Middle-earth. Some names you may recognize are Ered Hitui, Ered Luin, and West Rhovanion.

Certainly, two new campaigns reflect cards and units. One of them Akallabet campaign, and the other prologue. Since the mod is still in active development, there is a chance that we will see more stories later.

New animations, units and models

Since the developer had to introduce new campaigns and maps to the Last Alliance: Total War Mod, it’s no surprise that new features have arrived. You will find many new characters and racessuch as elves and dwarves. There is updated modelswhile you will also have different units for each race.

Buildings and technology trees

Each side has a choice of new buildings for creation of new units and armies. it’s the same technology trees where you will have to explore unlock new abilities and firepower. It’s fun to watch the war unfold in this strategy game as your army becomes more and more powerful.

War with Sauron

Last Alliance: Total War Mod is a great overhaul of Total War: Shogun 2 that adds characters, units, and buildings from The Lord of the Rings to the game. He has final battles with Sauron The action takes place before the LotR film The Fellowship of the Ring.

While the strategy and combat elements remain the same, there are new gameplay aspects specific to each race. It gives a whole new experience for everyone who loves Tolkien’s Middle Earth.
