Facebook has merged Instagram and Messenger direct messages, and with this update, the company has added many more features as well. One of the features is to customize the chat, so now you can change the Instagram chat theme and accentuate the color on iPhone and Android.
It should be noted that the new chat personalization feature is only available if you update Instagram DMs to the new cross-platform messaging which allows you to send messages to Facebook friends from Instagram.

Preconditions
The new change chat subject feature is only available with the latest Instagram posts update. So first of all, go to the Play Store or the App Store and update your Instagram.

Note: You should also note that this update is not reversible, so once you update it you will not be able to revert to the old DM UI.
Change Instagram Chat Theme
1]Open your updated Instagram app and access direct messages by tapping the new messaging icon in the top right corner.
2]Now open any conversation for which you want to change the chat subject.
3]Here in the chat window, tap on that person’s username and the chat details for that chat will open.
4]Now find the Discussion topic option and tap on it.
5]Here you will see various theme options like Love, Holloween, Tie-Die, etc. Select your preferred subject and it will apply to this chat.
In addition, you can also change the accent colors. Select it from the theme selection menu by scrolling down a bit further and tap on any color name.
