Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War | How to rank quickly

Master the routine with our guide Rank up quickly in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

If you are just starting your career Call of Duty in Black Ops Cold War multiplayer, you may be wondering how you can classify quickly and access high-level weapons and equipment as soon as possible. You might even want to get Prestige so you can get into the Seasonal Leveling System and reap the rewards.

In this guide, we’ll give you some tips so that you can optimize your multiplayer approach in Black Ops Cold War and earn as much XP as possible during your precious game time. Here’s how to rank up quickly in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

Visit the “ Closest challenges to complete ” page before each match

One of the fastest ways to rank in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is by using the in-game challenge system to earn large amounts of XP. Aside from playing the game regularly, this is one of the main ways to get extra XP just by changing your playstyle slightly.

Before each game starts, press R1 / RB to go to the “ Challenges ” tab in the lobby, choose the “ Multiplayer ” option, then move the cursor to the bottom panel, which has the numbered challenges.

Click on this panel to open the Closest Completion Challenges screen, where you can see how close you are to completing the challenges. Many challenges are staggered, with rewards amounting to 5,000 XP in some cases.

Try to complete these challenges in your daily matches to accumulate extra XP and rank quickly.

Diversify your game modes

Beyond adjusting your playstyle, you can also easily rank up by regularly switching between play modes. A host of challenges in the Career and Combat Empowerment sections correspond to specific game modes, such as the one that asks you to win a free-to-all game or the top 3 of 10 Hardcore games. Keeping the same gameplay may be good for your muscle memory, but it’s not good for your XP gains.

Especially at launch, Treyarch will undoubtedly be creating special playlists to help players switch modes, so watch out for them and dig deeper if you know you’ve got some challenges ahead.

Typically, objective game modes like Hardpoint and Domination will always give you more XP than those dealing with eliminations, as you get points for securing areas and maintaining bottlenecks.

Make sure you don’t quit the games until the end screen gibberish is over; You get a lot of extra XP for completing matches that you don’t want to miss.

If you’re trying to upgrade specific weapons quickly, try Combined Arms Moshpit.

Use the zombies to rank quickly

As part of this year’s Call of Duty, your progress is unified across all game modes. This means that if you play Zombies, you’ll rank as easily as you do in multiplayer. The best part about it is that there are hundreds of challenges in Zombies that are just as easy to complete.

Zombies has its own “ Near Completion Challenges ” section that you can check off to quickly choose challenges. It’s an easy way to climb the ranks and take a break, especially if you can * cough * take advantage of map breaking issues that haven’t been fixed yet, letting you kill zombies without having to worry about hurting yourself.

Play with a variety of loads

Finding a weapon you love in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer helps, but sticking to a single charge too often can be bad for everyone. You want to be able to adapt in the game to a variety of situations. If there is a snipers nest, you might want to clean it out with your own long range weapon, for example.

It is recommended to have a load based on each type of weapon in the Create a class menu.

Quickly build an Assault Rifle, SMG, Light Machine Gun, and Sniper Rifle with a variety of gear configurations to create four playstyles that you can switch up when the going gets tough. Along with letting you play better, you’ll also be able to overcome early challenges in a variety of weapons by constantly changing your gear.

Some of the EXP boosts come from just 25 kills or 10 headshots, so a lot of EXP can be gained by regularly changing your gear.

Complete the Dark Ops challenges

Another way to rank up quickly in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is by completing the game’s “ Dark Ops ” challenges. These are ranked challenges that often require you to play in a different style to unlock them.

The game doesn’t tell you how to unlock them, but below are some easily accessible and relatively simple multiplayer and zombie challenges to complete:

Multiplayer:

  • Throw a frag grenade to kill the enemy who threw it at you (1K XP)
  • Kill 25 enemies on land underwater (5K XP)
  • Complete a squad of four in Fireteam (5K XP)
  • Plant C4 on enemy ships and destroy the vehicle, killing occupants five times (5K XP)
